The Great and the Good from County Government
Berkshire County Council was abolished by local government reforms in 1998, and BRO inherited a number of artefacts from it. These included gifts to the Council, ceremonial items, and furniture either acquired or donated since the Council's creation in 1889.
Part of the County Council's collection included a number of portraits of county dignitaries. These portraits can be seen here, together with biographical details of both the sitters and artists.
