In this second part of the story, Dr William Orange takes over as Medical Superintendent. He has to deal with a number of further escape attempts before he is satisfied that his regime is secure.
Orange inherited an Asylum that was beginning to find its feet. Within five years, he had asserted his own control, and reduced dramatically the incidents of self-discharge.
