Cataloguing
Cataloguing is the term we apply to the production of itemised
lists of records that we hold. These itemised lists are the principal
finding aid we produce to help people discover the collections.
The aim of our catalogues is to let the records speak for themselves.
We try to place them in context so that the links between them are
preserved. This is an important part of the archivist's professional
code of conduct to preserve evidence as well as information.
Within our searchroom we have a comprehensive set of indexes to the
catalogues - for people, places and subjects. Please contact us
