School Records

School records

Berkshire Record Office holds the records of over 800 schools. Some schools began as charitable foundations centuries before public education became a requirement. Others began as British or National schools under the encouragement of churches. From 1870 local authorities became involved in building and running schools.

We have a comprehensive index to school records in the searchroom. Please contact the office for further details.

Please note that we do not hold individual pupil records or examination results.
