The results of the CIPFA Distance Survey for the BRO are now available
The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy’s Distance Enquiry Services Survey took place between 5th and 16th October 2015. Users who contacted the Berkshire Record Office (BRO) by email were asked to take part and of the 68 requests sent out, 43 responses were received giving a response rate of 63%. The overall results for the BRO are given below.
Overall results:
• 100% think our service overall is very good/good
• 100% think our quality of content is very good/good
• 100% think that our clarity of response is very good/good
• 100% think that our promptness of response is very good/good
• 80% think that our charges for goods and services is very good/good
• 94% think that the ease of navigation to our website is very good/good
• 95% think that our website is very good/good
Our typical distance user:
• is a first time user (65%)
• is between 55 and 64 (33%)
• is white (97%)
• is female (60%)
• is employed (52%)
• is from Europe (81%)
• does not have a disability (81%)
The main reason for contacting BRO was for family history research (67%).
The main reasons for using the distance enquiry service rather than making a
personal visit were:
• (they) live too far away to visit (56%)
• email/phone/letter/other electronic method (is) more convenient (44%)
• To see if the office held relevant information (23%)
The main method of finding out about our distance enquiry survey is via our website (53%).
