National Resources

We have a number of traditional family history sources onsite to help you with your research.

We have subscriptions to two of the largest online family history sites: Ancestry and Find My Past.  There are three computers available to the public which you can use for free.

These sites provide access to a wide range of international resources, including UK census returns and births, marriages and deaths indexes.

For those who prefer to do their own, manual searching, we also hold a fiche copy of the birth, marriage and deaths index for England and Wales 1837-2004, and of the probate index for England and Wales 1858-1943.

We also have fiche and film copies of census returns for Berkshire places for each of the returns from 1841-1901.
