Self Service Photography
You can bring your own camera or mobile device to take photographs of documents on your visit - it just needs to be flash-free (video filming and scanning are not permitted). Just let staff know when you arrive that you wish to take photographs.
We charge £1.00 per image and ask that you complete a form, making a note of what photographs you take as you go. This applies to taking photos of anything in the searchroom.
If you are a student undertaking an individual project leading towards a recognised educational qualification and wish to take large quantities of images, we are able to cap the fee at £100.00. Licences are valid for one academic year (September to August). Please Contact Us in advance if you think that this applies to you.
If you plan to take a large number of photographs, you can use our £200.00 cap. Licences are valid until end 31 December each year . This is open to anyone, but please let us know if you intend to use the cap at the time of booking or upon arrival.

Digital Copies
We can provide reasonable quality (300dpi) electronic images, CDs or photographic prints as well as high publication quality images if required. All electronic images are sent via Quatrix so you will need some form of image viewer in order to view them.
Prices start at £13.00, but before taking payment we need to assess the best way to capture and produce images so please Contact Us to obtain a quote.
Large orders, those that require a search to find entries and any that require a great deal of assessment of documents in order to provide a quote, may also incur a search fee of £20.50 per half hour.

Printouts
Many records, including parish registers and wills, have been copied onto microform (on film or fiche) and we can supply paper printouts or simple jpeg images via email from these. Please note that will orders are limited to 5 per order.
If visiting, you can make printouts yourself using our reader printer which can be hard copy printouts or saved to USB stick. The cost for self-service printouts is £1.00 per sheet/image saved to USB.
If you would like us to process and/or post paper printouts or email jpeg/PDF images for you, we charge £3.00 per sheet/jpeg/PDF image.
Postage and packaging costs may be added to your order where applicable.

Computer Printouts
We are only able to provide printing capability to two of our bookable computers (7 & 8) at a charge of 50p per sheet. We advise you to bring a USB stick with you in order to save to USB in case you are on computer 9. Saving to USB from the bookable computers is free.
Please note saving to USB free of charge only applies to the bookable computers. Copies saved to USB of resources on our transcripts PC or CDs will cost 50p per sheet.
Please also note that you if you use your phone or other mobile device to take photos, there is a fee of £1.00 per image as noted above under Self-Service Photography.
Photocopies
We can provide hard copy photocopies, or we can send simple jpeg images or PDF files electronically. Electronic jpeg images are sent via Quatrix so you will need some form of image viewer in order to view them.
We charge £3.00 per sheet/jpeg/PDF image.

Certificates and Certified Copies
We can supply certificates of parish register entries of baptisms, marriages and burials which took place in Berkshire churches. These are typed up and certified by staff.
For baptisms and burial certificates (any date) and pre-1837 marriages, we charge £18.00 per certificate (set by the Church of England).
For post-1837 marriage certificates, we charge £12.50 per certificate (set by the General Register Office).

Orders that require a search to find entries will also incur a search fee of £20.50 per half hour.

Certified copies of other documents are calculated at a charge of £20.50 per half hour for staff time spent on research, transcription, typing and certification.

Restoration Service
Do you have old, faded or damaged photographs? We can fix a wide variety of defects with no harm to the original image.
We do this by creating and then editing a digital copy to make your pictures look as good as new. Each photograph is treated on an individual basis and prices start from £20.50.

Copyright
Under UK law we can only supply customers with one copy of any item which is in copyright. In the UK virtually all archives (no matter how old they are) are in copyright until 31 December 2039.
We also have to ask you to sign a copyright declaration which satisfies UK law before we can supply you with copies, and make a charge for supplying them. This inevitably affects the speed with which we can supply your copies. Please bear this in mind if you need us to supply copies to meet a deadline.
Generally speaking, you are welcome to copy entire items if they are unpublished. However, some depositors prefer that we do not allow unrestricted copying. If your research project is likely to involve substantial copying, please Contact Us in advance.
Publishing copies
Please Contact Us if you wish to publish anything that you have acquired from us as we may need to seek permission from the depositor before publication is allowed.
